Refunds reverse some or all of a payment. EZ360PM keeps invoice balances, client credit, and journals consistent when a refund is recorded.
Who can issue refunds?
- Manager+: can create refunds and post accounting entries.
- Staff: typically view-only.
Refund workflow (recommended)
- Open the invoice (or payment) you need to refund.
- Click Refund.
- Enter the refund amount in dollars (e.g. $50.00).
- Save the refund.
- Confirm the invoice updates (paid/partial/unpaid) and accounting journals remain balanced.
How accounting is handled
- Refund posting uses integer-safe proration to allocate between A/R and credit effects (no float drift).
- Ops-grade invariants checks will warn if refund sums don’t match snapshots.
- Refunds are tied to a Payment record for traceability.
Important
Always confirm the refund amount does not exceed the refundable remainder of the payment.
